Interactive Mock Caldecott Using Schu & Sharp ListI am super excited about this year's Mock Caldecott. Last year was the first year I held a Mock Caldecott. This is not a requirement for teachers in my building. I will post covers of the books in the hallway. Teachers are encouraged to read any of the books to their class they would like. They do not have to read all of the books. I will read some of the books during library class. One management tip is to tape a list of all the classroom teachers to the back of the book. The names can then be crossed off when book has been read to a class. This helps me know which books to read in the library without emailing each teacher. Students will be allowed to vote for their favorite right before Christmas break. Here is the Google Slide Deck: click here! I have created a hyperdoc/slide for the books. I added Hey Black Child, but it isn't out yet. All the slides can link to a padlet, answer garden (word cloud), and flipgrid. To use this slide deck, make a copy of the deck, then create a padlet, answer garden, and flipgrid for each book. Last add the link to your copy of the slides. Some of the covers link to a book trailer. I left those links in tact. Even if you want to do some of these activities with only one book, and not the whole Mock Caldecott feel free. I may copy the slide and just have the slides I am reading to a particular class pushed out to them through google classroom or email so they have the links. Another option would be to link the whole thing, or a couple slides to your website. You could also only add some of the options and delete the others from the slide if making three choices is overwhelming. I opened several tabs and created several interactive options for one book at time, then linked the slides. I am excited for this activity in my building. I hope you can use the slide deck as well!
